Overview

As a Deputy Manager in our residential children’s homes, you support the Registered Manager in daily operations, leading staff and ensuring a safe, therapeutic environment. You work with multi-disciplinary partners to assess and meet the needs of looked-after children, all while upholding care plans, safeguarding and regulatory standards. The role contributes to a trauma-informed, strength-based approach and may involve shift work, sleep-ins, and cross-home coverage. This is a chance to shape care settings and support young people toward independence within a supportive county-wide system.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Registered Manager in day-to-day running of the residential home and staff allocation
  • Promote safe, caring and consistent environment aligned with the home’s ethos
  • Ensure compliance with legislation, regulations and quality standards including Ofsted
  • Collaborate with Police, Social Workers, Education and Health to monitor and support needs
  • Deputise for the Registered Manager in financial transactions and governance
  • Monitor care plan implementation and involve young people and families in their care planning
  • Maintain records in line with guidelines and procedures
  • Oversee safe administration of medication and stock management
  • Maintain buildings and housekeeping to a high standard
  • Cover across other county homes as required
  • Be available for unsocial hours, sleep-ins, and on-call duties
  • Undertake other duties commensurate with the grade

Key requirements

  • Full UK Manual Driving licence
  • Level 3/4 in Children’s and Young People’s Workforce Qualification or Equivalent
  • Qualifying experience in a children’s residential home
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with staff and looked-after children
