Overview

In this Client Manager role, you own a diverse client portfolio within a growing accountancy practice. You’ll review accounts and tax work while delivering strategic, advisory support to clients. You act as the main contact, building long-term relationships and guiding junior staff, all within a supportive, relationship-led culture. You’ll identify opportunities to grow the advisory footprint and contribute to the firm’s ongoing success.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of clients, handling accounting and tax matters efficiently
  • Review statutory accounts, management accounts, VAT returns and tax returns
  • Provide proactive budgeting, forecasting and financial performance guidance
  • Serve as primary client contact and trusted adviser
  • Supervise and develop junior team members; review their work
  • Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards and tax legislation
  • Identify opportunities to offer additional advisory services
  • Support business development and onboarding of new clients
  • Liaise with HMRC and other regulatory bodies when required

Key requirements

  • ACA or ACCA qualified, or qualified by experience with strong practice background
  • Minimum 4 to 5 years’ experience in an accountancy practice
  • Proven experience managing a client portfolio
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK accounting and tax regulations
  • Confident in reviewing work and leading a team
  • Excellent client-focused communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills with ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Experience using cloud-based accounting software such as Xero, Sage or QuickBooks
