Senior Procurement Specialist

Overview

In this role you will provide analytical and strategic sourcing support across Indirect Services, with a focus on technology procurement and supplier management. You will partner with stakeholders to design and execute sourcing strategies, lead competitive RFx processes, and optimize technology spend for tangible savings and long-term value. You’ll administer supplier contracts, monitor performance, and drive risk-aware negotiations that align with Markel’s enterprise objectives. Responsibilities

• Partner with business stakeholders to translate requirements into sourcing solutions for Indirect Services and technology categories (SaaS, professional services, data).
• Lead and manage RFx processes, including requirements, pricing, financial analysis, and risk assessments for tech and services agreements.
• Identify cost savings and value creation opportunities via spend analysis in collaboration with the Global Procurement team.
• Develop negotiation strategies for technology, software, data, and services contracts ensuring favorable commercial and risk outcomes.
• Collaborate with Directors and Analysts to establish, maintain, and renew supplier contracts across Indirect Services.
• Measure supplier performance using metrics on cost, quality, service levels, and compliance.
• Lead supplier performance reviews and quarterly business reviews for key tech and services suppliers.
• Develop deep category expertise in Indirect Services with emphasis on technology, software, professional services, and data agreements.
• Oversee supplier onboarding and due diligence, risk, and compliance for new and existing vendors.
• Improve ROI on third-party tech and services spend while meeting savings targets and financial objectives.

Key requirements

• Experience in strategic sourcing, category management, finance operations, and analytics focused on Indirect Services including technology spend.
• Strong contracting and negotiation experience in SaaS, professional services, and data contracts.
• Knowledge of third-party contractual provisions to meet regulatory requirements.
• Understanding of end-to-end Procure-to-Pay (P2P) processes with emphasis on optimization and compliance.
• Experience with procurement technologies, analytics platforms, and AI-enabled solutions to enhance sourcing outcomes.
• Ability to partner with IT, Legal, Risk, Finance, and business leadership.
