Overview

In this role you will oversee construction delivery for a major nuclear project at HPC, coordinating multi-contractor activity to meet schedule and safety standards. You’ll work closely with Tier 1 partners and internal teams to ensure safe, compliant and efficient execution. The role combines site oversight, logistics integration, and continuous improvement of construction flow in a high-stakes environment. You will shape how construction activities align with project controls, safety culture, and regulatory requirements. This is a hands-on opportunity to impact delivery on one of the UK’s flagship energy initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee site construction activities and coordinate with Tier 1 contractors and supply chain partners
  • Identify safety or quality risks on-site and implement mitigation measures while conducting assurance audits
  • Conduct regular site inspections and feed findings into progress and safety reports for leadership
  • Coordinate with Health & Safety, Project Controls, Contract Management, and Logistics to align schedules
  • Attend Plan of the Day (PLOD) and Plan of the Week (PLOW) meetings and document outputs for leadership
  • Participate in pre-start briefings to reinforce project expectations and nuclear safety culture
  • Perform routine safety and assurance inspections in line with HSPIs and CDM requirements
  • Ensure compliance with UK CDM Regulations 2015 and site protocols
  • Write clear technical and progress reports for senior management

Key requirements

  • Degree (BSc/BEng) or HNC/HND in relevant engineering or construction management field
  • SMSTS or IOSH safety qualification
  • Proven experience in construction sequencing, recovery planning, and resource allocation on complex projects
  • Strong understanding of CDM 2015 Regulations and heavy civil/industrial environments
  • Ability to produce concise technical and progress reports for senior management
