Technical Architect

Overview

As a Technical Architect, you design robust, scalable, and secure architectures across corporate platforms and customer-facing services. You’ll work hands-on with delivery teams to translate requirements into implementable designs and support execution through architecture governance and peer reviews. You’ll balance functional and non-functional needs while staying current with new technologies. This role offers impact across public sector-aligned solutions and a mature architecture practice, with opportunities to shape roadmaps and mentor delivery teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver robust, scalable, and secure technical solutions across corporate platforms and customer-facing services
• Translate requirements into high-quality architectures for build, operation, and support
• Hands-on involvement with delivery teams to guide implementation and knowledge transfer
• Participate in architecture peer reviews to maintain design quality
• Present designs to the Technical Assurance Board and support assurance discussions
• Contribute to technology roadmaps and evaluate new technologies for controlled adoption
• Collaborate with Security Architects to ensure workload protection
• Stay aware of emerging technologies, platforms, and industry trends relevant to NEC’s services and customers

Key requirements

• Proven experience producing technical architecture designs
• Strong understanding of compute, networking, storage, virtualization, and cloud technologies
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
• Experience in UK public sector environments with Azure, AWS, or OCI is highly valued
• Infra, platform, or cloud-centric background; or senior engineer transitioning to architecture
• Ability to balance delivery pressures with design quality and long-term sustainability
