Overview
As VFX Manager, you oversee VFX workflows across UK and European scripted content, guiding budgets, schedules, and production partnerships. You’ll work with cross-functional teams to support development through delivery and help shape Amazon MGM’s international originals. The role combines VFX production know-how with strong project management to maintain creative integrity and delivery timelines. You’ll engage with vendors and production partners, driving efficient processes and high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment. This is a pivotal opportunity to influence UK and European content for a global streaming platform.
Responsibilities
- Oversee VFX needs for a slate of UK and European scripted series and films under the Head of VFX, International
- Support greenlight decisions via cross-functional collaboration
- Develop internal VFX assessments from scripts and pre-visual materials
- Guide production planning, budgets, talent, and schedules for VFX
- Build and nurture relationships with VFX vendors and talent, supporting negotiations
- Manage project databases tracking vendor capabilities, talent pools, and resources
- Lead vendor selection, bid evaluation, and work allocation for assigned projects
- Monitor VFX deliverables for quality and adherence to budgets
- Coordinate with marketing and publicity for show promotion
- Own end-to-end VFX production on smaller to mid-sized shows with minimal oversight
- Serve as primary contact with Production Companies, handling contracts, payments, and reporting across production phases
- Identify blockers and drive process improvements to enhance efficiency
- Align procedures with Amazon culture and leadership principles
Key requirements
- Experience in VFX production management within a production company or VFX vendor
- Solid understanding of VFX production from script breakdown to final delivery
- Strong project management skills: schedules, budgets, problem-solving, creative solutions
- Exceptional organizational abilities to juggle multiple projects
- Proficient English communication (written and spoken) at advanced level
- Working knowledge of VFX facilities and freelance talent pools
- Proficiency with production/post tools such as ShotGrid and Airtable
