Overview

As a Critical Site Shift Engineer, you will oversee MEP systems in a data centre, ensuring safe operation and 100% uptime. You work within the engineering team to manage risk, maintain equipment, and support day-to-day facilities activities. You will operate LV/MV electrical isolations, authorise permits, and uphold Cushman & Wakefield/Thomson Reuters safety processes. This role offers the chance to influence high-stakes reliability in a mission-critical environment. You’ll be part of a team that prioritises safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Operate MEP systems in the Critical Facility/Data Centre, including MV/LV electrical isolations
  • Recommend improvements and provide concise technical reports
  • Ensure specialist vendor visits are efficient with quality checks and communications
  • Maintain minimum staffing levels and accurate work order reporting
  • Utilise the FAMIS platform for tasks and documentation
  • Attend weekly/quarterly team meetings and contribute to MOP/SOP/EOP documents
  • Participate in safety compliance activities and toolbox talks
  • Ensure RAMs, MOP, SOP/EOP documentation for critical works and risk management
  • Coordinate ordering of M&E components with supply chain
  • Complete site technical assessments and skills gap analyses
  • Maintain areas and plant rooms to required standards
  • Assess and escalate potential risks, with mitigation plans
  • Contribute to safety system improvements and compliance
  • Complete reactive, planned, and corrective work orders in FAMIS per SFG20
  • Escalate ONWH alarm notifications per procedures
  • Accurately close and log work orders and time spent in FAMIS
  • Submit ServiceNow tickets and ensure CRs are timely
  • Manage access and PTW with landlords for booked works

Key requirements

  • Minimum 5 years in Critical Environments (e.g., Banking HQ, Data Centres)
  • LV Authorised Person (advantage)
  • Electrical/Mechanical engineering apprenticeship
  • C&G Parts 1 & 2 or equivalent
  • 18th Edition IEE wiring and installation (or willingness to complete)
  • C&G 2391 testing and inspection; BS 7671:2001
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills
  • Proactive, resilient under pressure, IT and documentation proficiency
  • Willingness to attend site training, possibly overnight stays
