Senior Associate Director – Bridges & Structures

Overview

In this role at Jacobs Bridges and Structures within the Transportation business, you will shape the design and delivery of complex bridges and structures for major UK and international programs. You’ll influence safety, resilience and asset performance while driving standardised, data‑driven design approaches to improve productivity. You’ll lead and mentor multidisciplinary teams and collaborate across Jacobs’ global network to deliver robust structural solutions that support informed client decisions.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support multidisciplinary teams across the project lifecycle
• Contribute to structural analysis, feasibility, tender, preliminary and detailed design, contract documentation and technical reporting
• Coordinate with clients, engineering disciplines and stakeholders to deliver integrated solutions
• Introduce digital, automated and standardised design approaches to improve quality and efficiency
• Deliver technically robust and sustainable structural solutions and support client decision-making
• Develop and mentor engineering capability and strengthen project delivery
• Collaborate with UK, European and global delivery networks to share knowledge and resources

Key requirements

• Substantial experience in bridge or structural engineering within infrastructure/transportation environments
• Strong technical design capability and project/discipline management experience
• Experience delivering structural projects through stages (feasibility–renewal)
• Ability to communicate technical risks, options and recommendations clearly
• Experience coordinating with clients and project stakeholders to deliver integrated solutions
• Relevant civil or structural engineering qualification, or equivalent professional experience
