Overview

In this Electrical Engineer role, you will shape electrical design across water and wastewater projects from concept to commissioning. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient electrical solutions for both new builds and legacy installations. The work supports MMB’s Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water framework, delivering tangible benefits to communities and the environment. You will drive design quality, challenge specifications, and mentor junior engineers, making a real impact on project delivery and technical standards.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review designs to ensure fit-for-purpose, compliant with current standards
  • Work with Motor Control Centres, LV distribution, cabling, instrumentation, industrial networks, PLCs and SCADA across new and legacy systems
  • Produce and review technical specifications and procurement schedules; evaluate tender bids
  • Apply and contribute to design standards; defend solutions to complex problems
  • Identify opportunities to improve delivery through standard designs, sustainable solutions, and digital tools
  • Act as technical checker on project documents and perform cross-team technical reviews
  • Manage interfaces and integration with other disciplines and produce coherent documentation
  • Encourage input from engineers, specialists and clients to deliver fit-for-purpose solutions
  • Collaborate with commercial, operational and construction teams to deliver practical and safe designs
  • Supervise and mentor Graduates and Engineers to develop capability
  • Engage with clients to build strong, collaborative relationships
  • Conduct site reviews to verify buildability and integration with existing systems

Key requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Chartered or Incorporated member of ICE, IMechE, or equivalent experience
  • Experience with water or wastewater projects; infrastructure or non-infrastructure experience acceptable
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality outputs meeting design, quality, and safety standards
  • Ability to deliver under tight timeframes and manage tasks efficiently
  • Valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites
