Overview
As General Manager, you will own the safe, profitable operation of the PET recycling site, with full responsibility for P&L, performance, people and compliance. You will lead the site management team to deliver the business plan and budget within a complex regulatory landscape. The role focuses on optimizing feedstock quality, yield, throughput and product quality across the PET recycling process. Responsibilities
- Own the safe, compliant and profitable operation, delivering P&L, EBITDA, budget and targets
- Coach and develop the site management team to foster ownership, accountability and high performance
- Manage drivers of profitability: feedstock cost, PRN value, yield, throughput, energy, labour, maintenance, waste and quality
- Drive performance across the PET recycling process and ensure robust QMS and product quality
- Establish KPIs for H&S, throughput, yield, mass balance, recovery, plant availability, downtime, energy and financial performance
- Lead site-wide continuous improvement, investigating and permanently resolving recurring issues
- Oversee maintenance, asset reliability and capital investment plans for safe operation
- Maintain Environmental Permit compliance and relevant waste/packaging legislation
- Collaborate with Commercial, Procurement, Finance, Engineering and Quality to align feedstock markets and operational impact
- Provide clear, timely reporting to Board and senior leadership, with corrective actions and recommendations
- Take ownership for site performance and ensure timely delivery of actions
Key requirements
- Significant senior management experience in PET recycling, plastics recycling or related manufacturing
- Proven P&L responsibility, budgeting, forecasting and delivering financial/operational targets
- Strong understanding of PET recycling processes and feedstock/yield/quality dynamics
- Commercial awareness of feedstock costs, PRN value, yield, throughput and profitability
- Experience leading management teams and fostering accountability and continuous improvement
- Track record of improving safety, quality, yield, throughput, reliability and operating cost
- Good understanding of the regulatory environment for recycling and waste processing
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Experience reporting to Boards or senior executives
- Strong communication skills and readiness to challenge performance and make site decisions
