Overview

As a Senior Mechanical Project Engineer, you will lead critical mechanical delivery for a major London data centre project. You work closely with design, installation and commissioning teams to drive design validation, submittals and RFI management while ensuring quality and programme alignment. You will mentor junior engineers and interface with clients and internal leaders to support governance and milestone planning. This role offers exposure to hyperscale data centre ecosystems and a path to influence across design, delivery and commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering delivery across major packages
• Drive design reviews, technical submittals, RFI management and design validation
• Coordinate daily activities between engineering, installation and commissioning teams
• Oversee subcontractor performance, installation quality and programme adherence
• Collaborate with BIM, QA/QC and commissioning to align quality and handover requirements
• Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers
• Interface with client, consultants and internal leadership
• Support project governance, weekly reporting, risk/issue tracking and milestone planning

Key requirements

• 6–10+ years of mechanical engineering/project engineering experience
• Experience with mission-critical, data centre, pharma or complex MEP builds
• Strong understanding of HVAC, refrigeration, chilled water, plant and pipework systems
• Ability to manage large mechanical packages from design through commissioning
• Leadership, communication and stakeholder management strengths
• Strong documentation, technical reporting and problem-solving ability
