Tax Reporting Accountant

Overview

In this role you will support biofuel compliance and reporting for UK and Ireland, coordinating data and certificates. You will work with suppliers and internal teams to ensure accurate obligation calculations and timely submissions. The position sits in a regulated environment with clear deadlines and government interactions, offering a chance to optimize processes and data flows. You will collaborate across stakeholders to maintain compliance with ISCC and other regulations, contributing to the company’s regulatory obligations and reporting integrity. This is an impactful, office-based role in Canary Wharf that blends finance, data, and compliance to support responsible fuel trading.

Responsibilities

• Calculate monthly biofuel obligation for UK and Ireland
• Track fossil and biofuel content across the supply chain using oil accounting systems
• Validate and reconcile obligated sales and balance UK/Irish duties
• Determine supplier biofuel balances and confirm with counterparties
• Identify and resolve data discrepancies promptly
• Manage certificate claim process and certificate balance
• Collaborate with suppliers and internal operations for required documentation
• Maintain procedures for trading physical biofuel and issuing Carbon/Sustainability data
• Review documentation for ISCC/regulatory compliance (origin, GHG calculator)
• Maintain mass balance for refinery biodiesel and ethanol storage using Valero system
• Enter claims in external government systems with verifier sign-off
• Coordinate certificate transfers, purchases, and sales with counterparties
• Engage with Biofuel Agencies and Verifier for new biofuel types
• Represent the company at industry/government biofuel forums and UKPIA
• Ensure contracts support certificate claims in UK and Ireland
