Overview
As Software Engineering Manager for Travel & Expense, you’ll lead a ~10-engineer squad building Spendesk’s travel and out-of-pocket expense experiences. You will partner with a PM, Product Designer, and tech leadership to set quarterly roadmaps and drive measurable outcomes across trips, bookings, expenses, and compliance. You’ll shape architecture, ensure reliability and security, and manage cross-team integrations with travel suppliers and the financial platform. This role blends people leadership with technical vision in an international, values-driven company.

Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of ~10 software engineers, including performance management, recruitment, and onboarding
- Set and deliver Travel & Expense roadmap with cross-functional partners in 2-week sprint cycles
- Improve customer experiences across travel, expense claims, and compliance areas
- Guide architecture and integrations with travel suppliers, payments, invoices, identity and security services
- Maintain high standards for code quality, testing, observability, SLOs, incident response, and production ownership
- Build an autonomous, customer-focused team delivering measurable outcomes and improving ways of working
- Support platform migration to service-based architecture with hexagonal pattern
Key requirements
- Proven experience leading a cross-functional engineering team (full-stack and mobile)
- Ability to set objectives, manage delivery against KPIs/SLOs, and drive performance
- Strong focus on architecture, reliability, security, and production readiness
- Experience with integrations across travel/domain systems (suppliers, payments, accounting)
- Comfort with product-driven delivery, collaboration with PM/Design, and stakeholder communication
