Financial Accountant

Overview

In this role you will own the day-to-day finance function within a growing medical education business, supporting the next phase of growth. You will drive the month-end close, financial control, and reporting, partnering with operations and the wider group to improve profitability visibility. You’ll shape finance processes, controls, and system improvements to enable scale, while supporting audits, statutory accounts, and tax. This is a hands-on, independent role with a clear impact on strategy and performance.

Responsibilities

• Own month-end close and preparation of management accounts
• Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and financial control
• Manage revenue recognition for project and event-based revenue
• Conduct variance analysis and report to senior stakeholders
• Support budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management
• Improve visibility of project profitability and margins
• Assist with implementation of a new accounting system
• Develop finance processes, controls, reconciliations and reporting
• Support audit, statutory accounts and tax requirements
• Collaborate with operational teams and wider group
• Support development of the finance function as the business grows

Key requirements

• ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified
• Strong technical accounting and management accounting experience
• Experience with month-end close and balance sheet control
• Hands-on across a broad finance function
• Proficient in Excel and financial reporting
• Experience with process improvement or accounting-system implementation
• Commercially minded, organized, able to work independently
• Strong communicator with non-finance stakeholders
• Experience with Salesforce and data-quality projects would be advantageous
