Overview

In this role you will own a broad standalone finance function for a Fulham-based design and project delivery practice. You will manage daily accounts, cash flow forecasting, and financial reporting to support growth. The position involves preparing budgets, rolling forecasts, and assisting with year-end accounts, with autonomy to prioritize work. You’ll work with Xero, construction management software, and Microsoft Office to deliver accurate, timely financial insights that inform senior management. This is a hands-on role that combines bookkeeping, planning, and cross-functional collaboration to enable scalable finance operations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the accounts inbox and respond to financial queries promptly
  • Process payments, invoices, income, and receipts with accurate record-keeping
  • Enter financial data into construction management software to support invoice workflows
  • Reconcile accounts using Xero and maintain day-to-day bookkeeping accuracy
  • Manage employee expense claims with proper documentation and approvals
  • Prepare rolling cash flow forecasts, budgets, and financial forecasts
  • Produce regular cash flow reports and financial analysis highlighting risks and opportunities

Key requirements

  • Five or more years of accountancy experience, construction industry experience preferred
  • Strong bookkeeping skills with independent day-to-day accounts management
  • Numerical and analytical skills to support forecasting and cash flow reporting
  • Clear written and verbal communication with team members, suppliers, and external advisers
  • Ability to learn new software quickly (construction management software) and adapt to processes
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel; strong technical ability
  • Understanding of construction VAT and CIS requirements (training available)
