Overview

As Senior Cost Manager, you will lead end-to-end cost management for complex commissions, shaping project budgeting, tendering, and post-contract cost control. You work within Turner & Townsend’s cost management team to ensure client objectives are met and value is delivered across real estate, infrastructure and natural resources programmes. You’ll use our digital tools to benchmark, forecast, and report on cost performance, while mentoring junior staff and supporting business development. This role offers impact through strategic cost steering and sustainability-minded cost control in major projects.

Responsibilities

  • Coaching and leading cost management for projects; assigning roles to junior staff
  • Advising on feasibility studies and procurement options
  • Managing estimating and cost planning; presenting final cost plan
  • Overseeing tendering, procurement, preliminaries, tender analysis and contract drafting; using The Hive and eTender Platform
  • Acting as contract administrator; managing post-contract variances and change control
  • Performing cost allowances peer reviews and valuations for large projects
  • Producing monthly post-contract cost reports via Cost Control App and presenting to client
  • Involvement in value engineering and negotiating final accounts
  • Interfacing with client, Project Manager and consultants; collaborating with project delivery team
  • Leading a cost management team when applicable; using suite of digital tools (The Hive: Benchmarking App, CostX, Market Rates App, eTender Platform, Cost Control App)
  • Implementing Embodied Carbon Calculator for carbon footprint reports
  • Supporting the NewLeaf strategy; managing internal fees, job costing and resourcing
  • Marketing and business development activities; bid submissions; nurturing networks
  • Knowledge management and process improvement; mentoring junior staff
  • Managing projects on D365
