Experienced Glazing Designer

Overview

In this role you design and develop aluminium glazing and façade systems from concept through fabrication and installation, using established systems and BIM tools. You collaborate with internal teams, façade consultants, and on-site staff to ensure performance, compliance, and seamless project delivery. You will translate architectural intent and standards into detailed designs, specifications, and technical outputs that drive successful installations. This is a hands-on position at the core of cladding and glazing projects with a clear impact on project quality and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop aluminium glazing and façade systems from concept to fabrication and installation
• Produce detailed design drawings, calculations, and schedules per project/consultant requirements
• Work with proprietary systems (Aluprof, Schüco, Reynaers, Technal)
• Use LogiKal and SchüCal for design, outputs and take-offs
• Interpret façade consultant specs and architectural drawings
• Specify glazing solutions (glass types, build-ups, coatings, performance)
• Ensure designs comply with Approved Documents and relevant standards
• Coordinate with internal teams, façade consultants, architects, contractors and site teams; support RFIs and site queries
• Support value engineering, technical queries, design reviews and site technical support
• Maintain compliant design documentation through project lifecycle
• Attend site surveys and project meetings to resolve technical issues

Key requirements

• Proven experience in a Glazing Designer role
• Degree in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Structural Engineering or related discipline
• Proficient in Revit and AutoCAD
• Strong knowledge of Aluprof, Schüco, Reynaers, Technal systems
• Proficient in LogiKal and SchüCal
• Experience specifying glass and glazing solutions
• Solid understanding of Approved Documents and relevant British Standards
• Experience with curtain walling, doors, windows and complex façade interfaces
• Familiarity with BIM environments and coordination processes
• Strong technical detailing, problem-solving and project coordination skills
