Overview
In this role you will manage end-to-end procurement for factored and engineered products, supporting Sulzer’s Leeds facility as a centre of excellence. You will build strong supplier relationships, monitor performance, and collaborate with Production Planning and Engineering to ensure material availability and successful new product introductions. The position helps drive cost, lead-time, and supply chain improvements in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end procurement for factored and engineered products
- Raise and manage purchase orders aligned to business needs
- Develop and maintain supplier relationships to meet delivery, quality and cost targets
- Monitor supplier performance and proactively address shortages, delays and risks
- Negotiate pricing, lead times and commercial terms to maximise value
- Support supplier selection, qualification and development activities
- Coordinate with Production Planning to align material availability with demand
- Collaborate with Engineering on technical sourcing and new product introductions
- Support inventory optimisation and working capital improvement initiatives
Key requirements
- Experience in a Buyer, Factored Buyer, Procurement or Supply Chain role within manufacturing, engineering or OEM environments
- Proven ability to manage supplier relationships and negotiate effectively
- Experience purchasing engineered components, fabrications, castings, machined parts or technical equipment (advantageous)
- Strong commercial awareness and analytical skills
- Ability to prioritise workload in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office applications
- CIPS qualification or progress towards CIPS (desirable)
