Overview

As a Principal Civil Engineer at AECOM, you will provide strategic civil engineering leadership across a range of development projects, guiding technical governance and ensuring regulatory compliance. You will work with multidisciplinary teams in the UK and globally to deliver buildable infrastructure solutions for complex developments, including data centres, while mentoring engineers and contributing to business growth. You’ll engage with clients, shape sector thought leadership, and manage project portfolios to achieve delivery excellence. Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic civil engineering leadership and technical governance for development projects, ensuring compliance with standards and regulatory requirements
  • Lead, review and approve civil infrastructure designs and specifications for site development, earthworks, drainage, pavements, highways/access and utilities
  • Coordinate with engineers and specialists across the UK and global offices to deliver multidisciplinary projects
  • Support client engagement, business development, strategic asset planning, and mentoring to enhance technical capability
  • Undertake project management across a portfolio of schemes

Key requirements

  • Significant experience in development-led infrastructure engineering in private or consultancy environments
  • Experience in the data centre sector is a plus
  • Proven ability to deliver complex civil infrastructure projects with strong design capability in road geometry, drainage, earthworks, pavements and underground services
  • Strong knowledge of planning, highways, drainage, and utility approval processes
