Senior Category Buyer

Overview

As a Senior Category Buyer at Leonardo UK, you support category strategy development within the Electronics Division to drive value and risk management. You collaborate across projects to satisfy production and new product development needs, and you establish robust supplier frameworks. You’ll lead cost-saving initiatives, perform price analysis and benchmarking, and ensure governance and SAP alignment. This role offers impact through shaping UK procurement strategy and strengthening key supplier relationships.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Category Manager in shaping category strategies aligned to objectives
• Represent the category in projects to satisfy production and NPD requirements
• Establish and maintain contractual frameworks with multiple vendors
• Manage relationships with strategic suppliers and conduct regular business reviews
• Collaborate with procurement capability team to ensure resilient supply base
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and present to leadership
• Perform complex price analysis and benchmarking prior to negotiations
• Support bids by validating vendor quotations and sourcing new suppliers
• Coach and mentor team members to ensure timely, accurate work
• Ensure governance, audits, and customer flowdown requirements are met; align SAP with agreements
• Support UK strategy development and commercial relationships with the supply chain

Key requirements

• Extensive procurement experience; preferably with category management
• Strong knowledge of Contract Terms & Conditions
• Experience managing complex tenders
• Working in highly regulated environments
• Proficient in MS Office
• SAP experience
• CIPS qualification preferred
• Security clearance suitability (BPSS, NSV, SC, DV) a consideration
• Degree in business/engineering or equivalent experience
• Ability to develop and maintain supplier relationships across multiple sites
