Design Manager – Aviation & Building Services

Overview

As Design Manager you lead electrical and building services design for the Asset Intelligence Aviation business, ensuring safe, compliant, and innovative engineering solutions. You provide technical leadership across the project lifecycle, aligning designs with regulatory and client requirements. You work with clients, design partners, and supply chains to deliver buildable, value-driven outcomes and smooth handover to construction and operations. This role combines leadership, technical excellence, and a focus on continuous improvement in a fast-paced aviation environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the design team to foster collaboration and technical excellence
• Plan and manage design resources for successful project delivery
• Ensure compliance with legislation, standards, CDM, and governance
• Provide technical leadership and specialist support to project teams and stakeholders
• Lead technical reviews, site visits, and engagement with consultants and suppliers
• Develop and review technical scopes, specifications, and solutions per client requirements
• Support tendering and delivery teams with design expertise
• Approve design deliverables for quality and alignment with objectives
• Drive innovation and digital engineering adoption
• Manage design changes via formal change control and assess commercial impacts
• Oversee handover of design information to construction and operations
• Support recruitment, development and mentoring of team members
