Senior Highway Drainage Engineer

Overview

In this role you will lead and deliver complex drainage schemes within a multi-disciplinary team for a long-standing Shropshire Council contract. You’ll shape feasibility through delivery, manage design work and client-funded initiatives, and ensure safe, compliant execution. The position combines site- and office-based work with flexible/hybrid arrangements and travel to Shropshire, potentially Birmingham. You will impact infrastructure projects with a focus on quality, safety and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Independently deliver complex drainage schemes from conception through to delivery
• Investigation, data collection and analysis
• Feasibility studies, designs and reports
• Development of funding applications on behalf of the Client
• Preliminary and detailed drainage design, compliant with DMRB, Local Design Specifications, Sewage Sector Guidance, CDM2015 and BIM
• Contract administration
• Construction supervision
• Health, safety and welfare of yourself and team members

Key requirements

• Experience of leading drainage design projects within highways or related sectors
• Familiarity with DMRB, Local Design Specifications, Sewage Sector Guidance and CDM2015
• Commitment to health, safety and welfare of yourself and team members
• Competent using Civil 3D/AutoCAD, Causeway Flow and Microsoft Office
