Overview

Vous will lead technical accounting across the Group, providing subject-matter expertise on complex areas and supporting high-quality group and holding company reporting. You will be the go-to contact for auditors on technical issues and work closely with Group finance, treasury, tax, and legal teams. The role focuses on maintaining policies under IFRS and UK GAAP, managing acquisitions, intercompany arrangements, and key finance system interfaces. This is a pivotal role enabling accurate disclosures and strong governance in a fast-growing insurance group.

Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain Group technical accounting policies under IFRS and UK GAAP/Companies Act
  • Prepare technical accounting papers for management, auditors and the Board
  • Manage EIR models for Group debt and complex debt terms
  • Lead acquisition accounting for business combinations and intangible valuations
  • Advise on restructurings, entity rationalisations and intra-group transactions
  • Oversee foreign exchange accounting, including FX translation and hedge accounting
  • Manage IFRS 2 share-based payments accounting and disclosures
  • Oversee IFRS 16 models and processes (via tools like CCH Tagetik)
  • Lead IFRS 18 implementation and impact on primary statements and notes
  • Support group statutory reporting and disclosure narrative
  • Oversee intercompany loans accounting, aligning with treasury systems (e.g., Kyriba)
  • Serve as primary contact for auditors on technical matters and complex transactions
  • Strengthen controls around key technical judgements and estimates

Key requirements

  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA or equivalent)
  • Strong post-qualification experience in technical accounting
  • Experience in large practice and/or complex multi-entity group environments
  • Hands-on expertise in business combinations and acquisition accounting
  • Experience with complex debt and EIR calculations
  • FX and consolidation of international operations
  • IFRS 16 leasing and IFRS 2 share-based payments
  • Knowledge of UK Companies Act requirements; UK GAAP helpful
  • Experience working with auditors and external advisers on complex transactions
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to manage multiple workstreams to deadlines
