Overview

In this role you will lead commercial governance and contract management across defence-focused programmes. You will act as the primary commercial contact for project teams, steering negotiations, pricing, and proposals to enable growth and successful delivery. You’ll mentor colleagues and drive best practice within a large commercial function. The position offers hybrid work with occasional site presence in Bristol, and the chance to influence complex engineering projects in a regulated environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement commercial strategies aligned to programme delivery and business objectives
  • Provide governance and contract management across defence and support services contracts
  • Serve as the primary commercial point of contact for project teams
  • Lead negotiations and pricing for existing contracts and new opportunities
  • Prepare and review commercial proposals to support growth and bids
  • Identify commercial risks and opportunities with mitigations
  • Mentor and develop commercial team members and promote best practices
  • Foster relationships with internal stakeholders and customers to enable programme delivery

Key requirements

  • Commercial management or procurement experience in regulated industries (aerospace, defence, engineering services, government contracting, technology, nuclear)
  • Experience managing complex contracts through the lifecycle
  • Strong commercial awareness for improvement and growth opportunities
  • Experience supporting proposals, bid activities and contract negotiations
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • Degree / Professional qualification (IACCM, WorldCC, MCIPS)
  • Eligible to obtain UK SC level security clearance
  • Comfort with hybrid working (1-2 days per month in Bristol)
