Overview

In this role you lead the Business Intelligence team within Finance Systems to modernise the firm’s reporting and analytics. You drive governance, data quality and scalable BI delivery across Microsoft Fabric and Power BI, partnering with Finance, HR and other stakeholders. You balance hands-on technical direction with people leadership to ensure timely, trusted information for decision-making. You will shape the BI roadmap and delivery to maximise the value of the firm’s reporting estate and promote self-service analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of Power BI developers and reporting analysts, instilling clear accountability for delivery and quality
  • Manage team workload, priorities and resources across projects, continuous improvement and critical reporting
  • Provide technical leadership as primary escalation point for Power BI, reporting and analytics issues
  • Translate stakeholder requirements into practical BI solutions and collaborate with data architects, vendors and cross-functional teams
  • Own and maintain the BI delivery roadmap; prioritise initiatives and shape the Microsoft Fabric and Power BI architecture
  • Provide technical direction for scalable data models and integration of data from Elite 3E, EDB and other apps
  • Promote robust development lifecycle practices (source control, testing, change management) and improve platform reliability
  • Oversee design, development and deployment of high-quality financial, operational and client reporting
  • Establish ownership of KPIs and semantic models to ensure a single version of the truth
  • Govern reporting and data security (row/object-level security, access controls) and support legacy rationalisation (SSRS/Excel)
  • Champion BI governance, standards, documentation and change-control processes
  • Stay current with Power BI and Microsoft Fabric to identify practical value opportunities

Key requirements

  • Significant experience in a Finance, IT or professional-services BI/analytics environment
  • Strong hands-on Power BI expertise (data modelling, DAX, Power Query)
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric or a modern Microsoft data platform and credible technical leadership
  • Experience leading or mentoring BI/reporting professionals
  • Solid understanding of data warehousing, ETL/ELT, semantic modelling and enterprise reporting concepts
  • Proven delivery and support of enterprise-level reporting solutions
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and engage senior stakeholders and vendors
  • Strong analytical, organizational, documentation and communication skills, with attention to detail
