Overview

In this role you will contribute to Turbine Island design within the Fusion and Modular Nuclear Business Unit. You will work with cross‑functional teams to ensure supplier deliverables meet requirements and to develop, check, and integrate design documents. You will apply systems engineering and optioneering while aligning the Turbine Island with broader power plant infrastructure. The opportunity combines hands‑on design work with stakeholder engagement in a highly regulated, safety‑driven environment, offering growth in nuclear and fusion innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Verify supplier deliverables meet requirements
  • Develop and review design documents with Senior Engineers
  • Support design development activities and optioneering studies
  • Apply Systems Engineering principles
  • Integrate Turbine Island design into wider plant infrastructure
  • Engage with stakeholders and participate in design reviews
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality management

Key requirements

  • BEng in Mechanical Engineering (2:1) or equivalent
  • Senior engineering experience in offshore, renewables, nuclear, or other regulated industries
  • Strong mechanical and structural engineering background
  • CAD proficiency: Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and/or Catia
  • MathCAD experience
  • Technical report writing and substantiation/assembly procedures experience
  • Knowledge of welding and machining processes
  • Experience from Concept to Manufacture in the engineering design cycle
  • Familiarity with Eurocode 3 and DNV
  • Experience with CAD assemblies/drawings checking and approval
  • Ability to perform manual calculations and produce technical reports
  • Excellent Finite Element Analysis skills; ANSYS Workbench is desirable
  • Experience with non-linear and fatigue FEA; awareness of DNV and Eurocodes
