Senior Associate – Professional Indemnity/Commercial Litigation

Overview

In this role you will join a leading Scottish specialist litigation practice to manage complex PI and commercial disputes, advising insurers and professionals. You’ll work closely with Partners, run your own files, and contribute to business development within a supportive, collaborative culture. The position offers meaningful responsibility from day one and a clear path for career progression. You will help shape high-value claims and provide strategic guidance across litigation stages.

Responsibilities

• Manage a varied caseload of complex professional indemnity claims from instruction to resolution
• Advise insurers and professional clients on liability, indemnity, policy coverage and litigation strategy
• Represent clients in court, mediations and other dispute resolution forums
• Draft high-quality pleadings, reports and legal advice on challenging matters
• Collaborate with Partners on significant disputes while maintaining autonomy on your files
• Mentor and support Junior Lawyers as the team grows
• Contribute to business development and strengthen long-term client relationships

Key requirements

• 5+ years’ PQE in professional indemnity, commercial litigation or comparable disputes practice
• Excellent technical ability and strong commercial awareness
• Confidence managing own caseload and building client relationships
• Strong advocacy, drafting and negotiation skills
• Collaborative approach with ambition to develop within a growing team
