Overview

As a Senior Electrical Consultant Engineer, you will lead electrical design and surveying work across multiple sectors for RLB’s West & Wales Built Asset Consultancy. You’ll translate client needs into technical solutions from early design through construction, while mentoring the in-region M&E team to grow our service offering. You’ll collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑quality, compliant designs and critical on-site oversight. This role combines hands-on design with advisory support to clients on complex projects.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake project feasibility studies
  • Detailed technical design of Electrical Services
  • Produce technical drawings and full electrical tender packages
  • Monitor electrical works on site, reporting on conformity and quality
  • Undertake Electrical condition surveys and pre-acquisition/dilapidation/PPM surveys
  • Provide technical advisory support to clients and develop contractor designs
  • Ensure compliance with Environmental, Health, Safety, Security and Quality Standards
  • Liaise with internal project teams and contribute to commercial strategies
  • Support development of the in-region M&E service offering
  • Carry out duties efficiently in line with processes and procedures

Key requirements

  • BSc Electrical Engineering degree (minimum)
  • Recognised M&E qualification
  • Chartered or willing to obtain MCIBSE (or equivalent)
  • Track record in a similar role or site engineering
  • High level of independent electrical design experience from RIBA 0-4
  • Asset surveying and age/remaining life estimation
  • Experience with technology such as tablets; CAD/Bluebeam/Microsoft Office
  • REVIT experience beneficial but not essential
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel (Southwest/South Wales)
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Strong client/external interface skills
  • Proactive, well-organised and commercially astute
