Senior / Principal Electrical Engineer ( Building Services)

Overview

As a Senior/Principal Electrical Building Services Engineer, you will guide technical direction and oversee delivery for multidisciplinary design projects. You’ll help grow Arup’s Electrical team, work with advanced digital tools, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement. You’ll maintain strong client relationships, manage budgets and schedules, and drive high-quality, innovative electrical design solutions. This role offers meaningful impact across healthcare, science, industry, and transport sectors within a global network.

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary design teams from inception to completion
• Coordinate holistic electrical design solutions and programmes
• Chair internal and external meetings and manage design programmes
• Utilise BIM for coordination and clash detection
• Stay current with applicable legislation and regulations
• Collaborate with Project Director to ensure commercial success
• Support project managers in controlling budgets, timelines, quality and safety
• Maintain client and project team relationships and report progress, risks and mitigations

Key requirements

• Chartered Engineer (or close to Chartership via IET or CIBSE) with strong background in electrical building services design
• Proven experience delivering UK multi-disciplinary design projects within a consultancy
• Proficiency in BIM and digital design tools; Revit MEP experience highly desirable
• Strong leadership and communication skills; ability to collaborate across teams and with clients
• Solid commercial awareness and track record of delivering high-quality, technically excellent electrical designs and innovative solutions
