Overview
As Principal Consultant in Regulatory Advice you lead high-impact regulatory engagements for clients in regulated sectors, delivering strategic, economic and governance guidance on frameworks, price controls and performance commitments. You oversee engagement delivery, assure quality, manage stakeholders, and mentor junior staff while contributing to growth through proposals and thought leadership. You’ll support programme development with senior leaders and work with multiple UK clients. This role offers career progression, skill development and exposure to diverse projects.

Responsibilities
- Lead delivery of regulatory advisory engagements for clients in regulated sectors
- Provide strategic, economic and governance guidance on regulatory frameworks, price controls, compliance, incentives and performance commitments
- Oversee engagement quality, stakeholder management and team mentorship
- Contribute to business growth through thought leadership and proposal development
- Support Client Service and Technical Directors in developing and delivering programmes, projects and technical outputs
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive client outcomes and value creation
Key requirements
- Senior regulatory experience in regulated water/energy sectors
- Track record of solving complex industry problems
- Experience with Price Review/revenue-setting processes (AMP cycles)
- Familiarity with assurance standards and approaches (three lines of defence, internal controls, ISAE 3000, audit and evidence packs)
- Strong knowledge of regulation policy and strategy
- Knowledge of cost modelling, benchmarking or business case appraisal
- Proven track record of winning work (proposal writing, account development, networking)
- Excellent written communication for regulator/board audiences
- High-impact stakeholder management with senior credibility
- Proven project leadership with planning, resourcing and delivery to deadlines
- Strong analytical capability to interpret financial/performance data and form recommendations
