Overview

In this role you will provide broad legal guidance to internal clients and lead contract negotiations across an assigned region or line of business. You may sit on either Counsel or Contracts Specialist track, shaping the contracts function and processes. You will collaborate with Finance, Product, Engineering, GTM, Sales, Customer Success, and Marketing to support revenue-generating agreements while advancing risk management. Your work helps enable efficient deals and aligns legal strategy with the company’s growth. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Sales, Product, Finance and other stakeholders to negotiate and close customer and partner agreements
  • Support legal processes, tooling, and simplification initiatives
  • Communicate clearly, escalate issues appropriately, provide timely feedback
  • Assist with RFPs/RFQs and propose alternative contract language when needed
  • Balance competing priorities and tight deadlines, work independently and in teams
  • Embrace Optimizely’s behaviors
  • Track A (Counsel): lead legal counsel on customer contracts in assigned regions or lines, develop regional privacy proficiency, understand product suite and RevRec basics, lead non-revenue legal topics, participate in training and strategic projects
  • Track B (Contracts Specialist): draft/negotiate SaaS/PSA/partner contracts, identify deviations from standards, advise on rights/obligations, manage contract review process, develop compliance analytics, help build contracts function (tools, playbooks), handle contract correspondence and related duties

Key requirements

  • Track A — Track A: At least 2 years at a top-tier law firm or in-house (tech experience a plus)
  • Broad knowledge of commercial, corporate, and IP law
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills with a customer-first approach
  • Understanding of GDPR and regional privacy laws
  • Understanding of software IP issues
  • Cross-functional collaboration experience (Finance, Product, IT, Security, Compliance)
  • Developing expertise in one or two legal areas
  • Passion for working in an emerging technology software sales company
  • Track B — Track B: Strong analytical and interpersonal skills, understanding of contract provisions and risks, ability to analyze complex requirements for compliance
  • MS Office proficiency; Salesforce.com and DocuSign experience preferred
  • SaaS transactional experience is a plus
  • For EMEA: bilingual German and/or Swedish required; Spanish or French a plus. For North America: bilingual Spanish a plus
