Overview

In this role you will lead mechanical design within a design-and-build setting for water and wastewater projects. You will work within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver projects from outline to handover, while aligning with programme, budget and quality standards. You’ll mentor peers, foster client relationships and help accelerate your chartership. The role offers flexible working and exposure to exciting AMP8 projects in the south west, with real opportunities to shape innovative solutions and see designs come to life.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design of treatment or infrastructure projects from outline to detailed design, through construction, commissioning and handover
  • Coordinate the project team (civil, electrical, mechanical, BIM modelers, and technical specialists) to deliver on programme, budget and quality
  • Undertake design in own discipline and mentor less experienced colleagues
  • Build positive client relationships and promote a one-team approach
  • Work within a project triangle with Site Manager and Quantity Surveyor to balance technical, constructability and commercial considerations

Key requirements

  • Accredited Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Incorporated Member of Engineering Institution
  • Outline and detailed design experience of water or wastewater projects
  • Knowledge of Designer or Principal Designer duties under CDM 2015
