Associate Electrical Design Engineer

Overview

In this role you lead high-end electrical design for data centres, bridging technical design with project leadership. You’ll oversee a team of engineers and BIM technicians while managing client relationships on large-scale, mission-critical projects. The position combines hands-on design with commercial and operational ownership within a top-tier data centre team. You’ll shape resilient power systems and drive the adoption of sustainable technologies in a dynamic, hybrid London setting.

Responsibilities

• Act as Electrical Lead on large data centre developments from feasibility to commissioning
• Ensure electrical design packages meet top technical standards and client uptime requirements
• Manage client relationships and coordinate with hyperscale providers
• Assist in fee proposals, resource planning, and project budgets
• Collaborate with Mechanical, CSA, and BIM teams for fully coordinated designs
• Drive adoption of sustainable electrical technologies (e.g., BESS, HVO-ready generation)
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers and graduates

Key requirements

• Extensive experience in electrical building services with significant data centre or mission-critical project portfolio
• Honours Degree in Electrical Engineering
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status preferred
• Expert knowledge of LV/MV power distribution, UPS, standby generation, protection coordination
• Mastery of BS 7671 and IEC/CIBSE codes related to data centres
• Experience in leading multiple projects and mentoring teams
• Excellent client-facing communication and workshop facilitation skills
• Right to work in the UK and based in or commutable to London
