Overview
In this role you will lead day-to-day technical delivery of highway consultancy services across the project life-cycle, from feasibility to construction. You’ll manage multi-disciplinary inputs, build trusted client relationships, and steer technical leads and teams to deliver design solutions. The role is client-facing and focuses on delivering highway, drainage and associated rail/public transport projects with a strong emphasis on safety, quality and value. You’ll work within a collaborative, inclusive culture at scale and have a real impact on transportation outcomes.

Responsibilities
- Manage projects ensuring coordination of multi-disciplinary inputs across varying scales
- Liaise with clients, build trusted relationships, and manage client expectations
- Undertake project technical lead and reviewer roles
- Mentor and enable others to maximize their contribution to project goals
- Prepare fee proposals and manage budgets for individual projects
- Develop and deliver discrete and overall project solutions
- Lead and manage design outputs including drawings, construction details, specs and bills of quantities
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and Environmental legislation and QA processes
- Coordinate team resources and assign roles to project staff
- Support tender preparation and contract documentation processes
Key requirements
- Knowledge/experience of highway design and/or drainage across project life-cycle
- Experience in road geometry, roundabouts, junction design, inclusive active travel, drainage, road restraint systems, traffic signs and road markings (advantageous)
- Proven experience leading one or more design disciplines on relevant projects
- Experience with contract documents or administration using Public Works Contracts
- Ability to use or oversee design outputs in Autodesk Civil 3D, Bentley OpenRoads Designer, InfoDrainage, PDS
- Proactive change management and impact assessment on schedule, cost, and quality
- Strong communication, client/stakeholder management and interpersonal skills
- Chartered Civil Engineer or Incorporated Engineer with extensive post-qualification experience
- Thorough understanding of relevant design codes (Design Manual for Roads & Bridges, Manual for Streets, TSRGD, Local Authority guidance) and CDM Designers Duties
