Overview

In this on-site Senior Buyer role at Abbott’s Dundee site, you secure material continuity and build strong supplier partnerships for both the Dundee and Oslo sites within the Cardiometabolic Business Unit. You lead strategic sourcing and supplier risk management to support manufacturing operations and cost optimization. You collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain material availability and drive procurement excellence across geographies. This position offers impact through supplier alignment, lifecycle management, and continuous improvement in a regulated, high-stakes environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage raw material supply and supplier relationships for Dundee and Oslo sites
  • Lead strategic, operational, and transactional sourcing to ensure continuity and business performance
  • Drive continuous improvement in sourcing strategy, supplier diversification, risk mitigation, and cost optimization
  • Oversee procurement of raw materials (chemicals, biologicals, commodities) including demand planning support
  • Partner with Sales, Marketing, Planning, Engineering, and Operations to maintain inventory accuracy and material availability
  • Lead supplier selection, negotiate contracts, pricing, MOQs, and lead times
  • Act as primary contact for strategic suppliers to resolve supply, production, delivery, and engineering issues
  • Manage strategic third-party manufacturing relationships including tool transfer, lifecycle management, obsolescence planning, design improvements, cost-reduction
  • Collaborate with Oslo Procurement and Engineering on inventory planning, forecasting accuracy, and supplier performance
  • Support QBRs with supplier performance insights, tool maintenance planning, and spare parts management
  • Generate procurement reports and cost analyses for decision-making and continuous improvement
  • Support broader Dundee procurement activities as required by Supervisor, Procurement, Planning & Control

Key requirements

  • Degree qualification or equivalent experience
  • Experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, or supplier management
  • Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment
  • Strong supplier management and negotiation skills
  • Experience using ERP systems
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint proficiency
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with stakeholders at all levels
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and multitasking abilities with attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced, matrixed, geographically diverse environment
  • Willingness to travel ~10%, including occasional international travel
