Overview
In this role you will reinforce Gartner’s sanctions compliance program and provide expert legal guidance on sanctions and related regulatory matters. You will support business units across complex regimes and conduct investigations, due diligence, and audits as part of the second line of defense. You’ll translate regulatory changes into actionable policies and training, collaborating with cross-functional teams to protect the company’s integrity. This is a globally impactful position at the centre of Gartner’s risk and compliance strategy.

Responsibilities
- Support and enhance the sanctions compliance program across US, UK, EU, and UN regimes
- Provide legal guidance on sanctions and other compliance matters
- Perform risk assessments and due diligence for sanctions-related screening of clients, vendors, and partners
- Deliver legal training and support to business units on sanctions and related issues
- Monitor and interpret sanctions regime changes and communicate impacts to stakeholders
- Conduct research, risk assessments, and advise on legal/regulatory matters affecting operations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Lead internal investigations, due diligence, audits and reviews as part of the second line of defence
- Prepare and review compliance documentation and reports for stakeholders
- Support broader Legal & Compliance initiatives as needed
Key requirements
- Qualified solicitor or barrister in the United Kingdom (or equivalent)
- Minimum of 5 years PQE in sanctions compliance (in-house or law firm)
- Experience advising on UK, EU, and US sanctions regimes
- Proven ability to give practical, business-focused legal advice in a fast-paced environment
- Experience conducting internal investigations, due diligence, audits, or reviews
- Experience developing and delivering compliance training and policies
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
