Senior Transportation Planner

Overview

As a Senior Transportation Planner at HDR, you will help design transport solutions that improve how people live, work and travel. You will work within HDR’s Transportation group to deliver UK projects and support initiatives in the US, Canada and the Middle East, collaborating with cross‑functional teams and clients. You will shape analyses, master planning and travel assessments to advance safer, more sustainable mobility. This role offers the chance to influence real-world transportation networks and contribute to HDR’s inclusive, globally connected culture.

Responsibilities

• Support project managers in delivering transportation projects in the UK and in other regions (US, Canada, Middle East).
• Collate and analyse project data and information.
• Collaborate with junior staff and technicians on project development.
• Prepare deliverables including analyses and reports.
• Support development of project and fee proposals.
• Engage with clients to understand transport needs and build relationships.
• Work with HDR teams across the UK, Middle East, and North America.

Key requirements

• Bachelor’s degree
• Minimum 5 years of experience in transportation planning and urban design
• Experience in active travel, public transport, scheme development, master planning, developing strategies, studies and appraisals, and transport assessments and travel plans
