Overview
In this role, you will own group tax accounting and reporting across multiple jurisdictions to support accurate financial statements. You will partner with cross-functional teams to manage tax disclosures, deferred tax, and R&D credit claims while guiding compliance across Europe and beyond. You’ll work with outsourced providers and external advisors to ensure high-quality, timely tax outputs as the business grows internationally. This is an impactful position at a fast-moving fintech, shaping tax strategy and reporting for a scale-up. You will help the company navigate expansion and complex tax landscapes with practical, rigorous processes.
Responsibilities
- Own tax accounting for group and statutory financial statements across multiple jurisdictions (UK, Europe, Iceland)
- Lead preparation and review of tax note disclosures aligned with accounting standards
- Take ownership of deferred tax analysis and asset recognition
- Take ownership of R&D tax credit claims
- Review tax computations and ensure correct tax positions in statutory reporting
- Manage tax expense reporting processes and tax reporting timetable
- Oversee intercompany loan and related tax processes
- Support direct tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions
- Manage relationship with outsourced compliance providers and ensure high-quality delivery
- Strengthen tax reporting processes, controls and templates across the function
- Support tax planning and implications of global expansion
- Partner on tax impact of new products and operating model changes
- Assist with intercompany analysis, group-level tax support and restructuring
- Contribute to VAT and indirect tax matters as required
- Support organisational structure planning and implementation
Key requirements
- Around 5 years of relevant tax experience, ideally in Big 4 or equivalent
- Strong international tax knowledge with hands-on group tax accounting and compliance experience
- Excellent understanding of tax reporting in financial statements, including tax notes and deferred tax
- Experience reviewing tax computations and challenging technical positions
- Experience managing outsourced compliance providers or external advisors
- Good understanding of corporate tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions
- Experience supporting R&D credit claims or applications
- Exposure to tax planning, global expansion or cross-border growth
- Strong attention to detail and ability to navigate complex group structures
- Strong stakeholder skills and clear communication of tax matters to non-specialists
