Overview
In this role you will lead a portfolio of owner-managed businesses, including companies, partnerships and sole traders, ensuring accurate year-end work and tax computations. You’ll act as the primary adviser to clients, shaping service delivery and driving value through proactive advice and relationships. You will plan workloads, meet deadlines, and guide a growing accounts team to maintain high professional standards. This position supports the Bristol office’s expansion and broader business growth goals, offering a meaningful opportunity to shape firm strategy and client outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Manage a varied portfolio of owner-managed businesses (incl. limited companies, partnerships, sole traders)
- Review year-end accounts, corporation tax, and personal tax computations
- Serve as primary client adviser and provide practical guidance throughout the year
- Plan workloads, monitor deadlines, and ensure timely delivery of work
- Lead, coach, and develop accounts team members
- Review work to ensure compliance with professional and technical standards
- Build strong client relationships and identify opportunities for additional services
- Collaborate with senior management on process improvements and growth initiatives
- Support expansion and success of the Bristol office
Key requirements
- ACA/ACCA qualified or equivalent recognised professional qualifications
- Extensive recent practice experience
- Experience managing or supervising an accounts team
- Strong technical knowledge of UK accounting standards and taxation
- Good understanding of FRS 102 and FRS 105
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build trusted client relationships
- Well organised with ability to prioritise and manage multiple assignments
