Operational Risk Manager – GM Operational Risk Manager (Associate / Vice President)

Overview

In this role you will lead operational risk engagement for Global Markets, collaborating with senior management across Operations, Technology, Compliance and Risk. You provide independent risk views, guide risk and control matters, and partner with 1LOD/2LOD functions to drive risk mitigation. You will develop and refine the operational risk framework, communicate key developments, and contribute to global framework enhancements. This is an opportunity to shape risk culture, deliver tailored risk reporting, and influence board-level risk oversight.

Responsibilities

• Engage with regional Trading Senior Management and key stakeholders across Operations, Technology, Compliance and Risk Management on risk matters
• Provide independent risk guidance and an integrated view of the business risk profile
• Partner with front office and 2LOD functions to deliver risk mitigation outcomes
• Develop aspects of the operational risk framework (RCSAs, KRIs, events) as required
• Utilize internal/external data to identify trends and follow up with 1st line stakeholders
• Oversee delivery of targeted risk assessments and post-event appraisals
• Support embedding Operational Risk awareness within the 1st line and drive risk culture improvements
• Act as primary ORM lead for senior stakeholders in 1LoD and provide expert risk advice to the business
• Develop and disseminate communications and training to raise operational risk awareness
• Contribute to global framework development and board/exec reporting with value-added insights

Key requirements

• Experience in Front Office COO, 1LOD Risk and Control role or trading background within Global Markets
• Understanding of front-to-back activities of a Global Markets Trading Business
• Proven track record of advising/challenging senior management on risk matters
• Experience in operational risk or related functions in financial services
• Knowledge of components of an operational risk management framework
• Strong commercial awareness and business-priorities understanding
• Very strong communication and presentation skills
