Global Laboratory Manager

Overview

In this role you lead the Hemel Hempstead laboratory, driving safe, efficient operations and financial performance while shaping the lab’s strategic direction within the global network. You will ensure ISO 17025 compliance, foster a high-performing team, and partner with customers and labs to enable growth and capability development. Responsibilities

• Lead safe, efficient, and profitable laboratory operations with strong resource planning and resilience
• Own budget, resource utilisation, and cost-to-deliver to support growth
• Develop and coach a high-performing team with succession planning and development
• Maintain ISO 17025 compliance, audit readiness, and robust governance
• Identify opportunities to improve productivity, standardize processes, and drive digital transformation
• Build trusted partnerships with customers, 3rd party labs, commercial teams and technical specialists
• Ensure exceptional customer outcomes and service delivery
• Support global alignment, standardisation and capability growth across the lab network

Key requirements

• Degree, HNC, HND or equivalent technical qualification
• Significant experience leading a laboratory or operational testing environment
• Strong understanding of ISO 17025 and quality management systems
• Proven ability to manage financial performance (budget & margin)
• Experience leading teams and developing organizational capability
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
• Solid understanding of testing, certification, and industry standards
• Commercial awareness and ability to balance cost, quality, and delivery
• Experience driving process improvements and operational efficiency
• Confident in data-driven decision-making and performance reporting
