Overview
As a member of Esri’s Cardiff R&D team, you will help advance ArcGIS Maps SDKs across platforms by building sample apps, documentation, and developer resources. You’ll translate user needs into code and content improvements, contributing to high-quality releases. You collaborate with cross-functional teams to shape GIS datasets, workflows, and APIs that support field mapping, spatial analysis, and developer workflows. Your work helps developers build modern mapping applications and extend the Esri ecosystem.

Responsibilities
- Explore user challenges and provide actionable UX feedback
- Gather requirements from developers and translate them into code and documentation improvements
- Create GIS datasets, maps, sample apps, and articles to showcase product capabilities and APIs
- Collaborate with development teams to design and validate new datasets and workflows for field mapping and spatial analysis
- Document technical topics and produce developer-focused product documentation
- Learn and collaborate in SDK environments (Kotlin, Qt, C#, Swift, Flutter, Python) to prototype enhancements
- Create focused test code to simulate complex scenarios for investigation and regression testing
- Administer and automate online GIS systems and services to support feature development and releases
Key requirements
- 2+ years of GIS experience
- Proficiency with mapping, spatial data, or GIS platforms such as ArcGIS or QGIS
- Basic programming in any modern language (e.g., Python, JavaScript, C#, Java)
- Strong problem-solving and analytic skills
- Proven initiative and creativity to explore, test and validate software behavior
- Excellent communication and team collaboration skills
- Experience or interest in scripting or coding to relate to developer users and communicate with the team
- Bachelor’s degree in GIS, geography, computer science, engineering, or related field
