Data Science & AI Delivery Lead

Overview

As the Data Science & AI Delivery Lead, you’ll act as the deputy to the Head of Data Science & AI Delivery, steering day-to-day AI delivery across strategic projects. You will lead multiple workstreams, shape technical designs, and contribute hands-on when needed to keep delivery quality high. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely, value-driven AI solutions and maintain robust MLOps practices. This role combines leadership with practical coding and architecture input to translate AI capabilities into business impact.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day AI delivery workstreams and unblock the team to meet priorities
• Direct design, build, test, and deployment of AI solutions across concurrent projects
• Provide technical guidance on solution design, model selection, and architecture decisions
• Review code and outputs, contribute hands-on Python development during critical phases
• Design and deliver Generative AI solutions including RAG, prompt engineering, and Azure OpenAI integration
• Ensure MLOps practices: versioning, testing, deployment pipelines, monitoring for performance and drift
• Promote engineering best practices: code reviews, documentation, version control, production vs. experimentation separation
• Collaborate with Business Technology Solutions, Program Office, and Data Engineering for planning, data pipelines, and support
• Mentor and develop a growing team of Data Scientists and AI Engineers
• Plan resources, estimate costs, and manage capacity to align with priorities
• Stay current with AI landscape and lead proof-of-concept initiatives to assess value
• Represent Head of Data Science & AI Delivery in meetings and stakeholder forums

Key requirements

• Demonstrable experience delivering AI/ML solutions from concept to production
• Strong Python proficiency and libraries (scikit-learn, pandas, PyTorch or TensorFlow)
• Experience with Databricks, MLflow, and Spark-based processing
• Familiarity with Generative AI concepts: LLMs, prompts, RAG, vector search
• Solid understanding of MLOps: CI/CD, testing, monitoring
• Azure cloud experience with Azure OpenAI, Azure ML, or Azure AI Search
• Experience leading technical delivery teams and fostering high-performance culture
• Excellent communication to translate technical concepts for business stakeholders
• Strong project management: estimation, tracking, deadlines in fast-paced settings
