Test Equipment Operational Lead

Overview

In this role you lead a team of Electronic Engineers within Production Design Support to ensure uninterrupted test equipment delivery across circuits, cards, and weapon systems. You will collaborate with senior stakeholders to align design support with production needs and drive improvements that reduce downtime. The position offers exposure to a broad range of equipment and programmes within a defence context, combining leadership with hands-on technical guidance. This is a high-impact, delivery-focused opportunity to shape test equipment support strategy and outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Test Equipment Design Support Delivery Team
• Provide proactive and reactive support for Test Equipment design issues
• Delegate issues to the appropriate Support Engineer or Lead
• Offer technical guidance on delivery of design support
• Identify opportunities to improve Test Equipment
• Build and maintain relationships with key Operations and Programme stakeholders
• Support creation and implementation of Test Equipment Support processes
• Ensure robust tasking/reporting between the team, Head of Test Equipment Design Support, and external stakeholders
• Collaborate with the Head of Test Equipment Design Support to evolve the Test Equipment Support Strategy

Key requirements

• Experience in a design and manufacturing environment with full design lifecycle advantageous
• Degree qualification or equivalent preferred
• Strong Electronic Design capability
• Understanding of engineering change process and configuration management
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management
• Ability to motivate, influence and drive high-performing teams
• Resilience and adaptability in adversity; willingness to challenge established methods
