Overview

In this Senior Design Engineer role, you deliver code-compliant, high-quality structural steelwork designs for diverse sectors across the UK and Europe, working from Dalton, Lostock, or Mansfield. You’ll collaborate with clients and internal teams to translate requirements into practical, buildable solutions and manage technical aspects of projects. The role combines design, analysis, and temporary works planning with a focus on safety, quality, and on-time delivery. You’ll contribute to shaping skylines through high-profile projects and a strong team culture.

Responsibilities

• Conduct structural analysis and create calculations for building regulations submissions
• Produce detailed design sketches for draughtspersons with buildability and safety in mind
• Collaborate with internal and external design teams to ensure a clear design brief and compliant solution
• Assess and define temporary works requirements
• Ensure compliance with procedures, QA, safety legislation, and contractual responsibilities
• Take ownership of technical aspects of projects and mentor junior engineers

Key requirements

• Extensive knowledge of structural steelwork design including complex solutions and temporary works
• Experience in Design Management
• Strong understanding of buildability on major construction sites and in fabrication shops
