Overview

In this role, you lead a team of scientists focused on developing novel biologic therapies for autoimmune disease. You’ll oversee in vitro and in vivo pharmacology studies to support lead and early discovery programs, delivering data packages for development. You’ll collaborate across functions to advance creative science that informs target discovery and medicine development. You’ll shape the pre-clinical pipeline through rigorous research, external partnerships, and strategic thinking, contributing to impactful patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor and develop a lab-based scientific team
  • Act as scientific and technical lead within the Research organization
  • Coordinate cross-functional projects with immunology, protein engineering, chemistry, translational medicine, biomarkers and clinical development
  • Ideate to accelerate early-stage discovery, deepen disease mechanism understanding, and develop new technologies
  • Design and implement rigorous in vitro assays to support antibody development for autoimmune disease
  • Plan and coordinate in vivo models for DMPK and efficacy with internal teams and CROs
  • Develop endpoint analyses and ex vivo profiling to elucidate drug mechanism of action
  • Maintain external scientific expertise through literature, conferences, and collaborations
  • Contribute to due diligence, partnerships, and potential acquisitions
  • Contribute to research reports, INDs, and patent filings
  • Establish an external presence via publications, conference talks, and collaborations

Key requirements

  • PhD with 5+ years in immunology, drug discovery, target identification or technology development (industry experience preferred)
  • Strong publication track record in peer-reviewed journals and conferences
  • Deep knowledge of basic immunology and autoimmune pathogenesis
  • Broad technical skills in cutting-edge immunology methods and in vivo/in vitro models
  • Proven track record leading research teams to data-driven decisions
  • Team-centric leadership with ability to motivate a diverse group
