Overview
In this role you will lead the financial accounting function for a global energy business, ensuring timely, accurate European statutory reporting and strong internal controls. You will manage a team of four, coordinate month-end close, and liaise with external auditors to meet regulatory requirements. You will apply UK and US GAAP knowledge and leverage SAP to maintain data integrity, while driving process improvements and SOX compliance. This is a high-impact, cross-border finance leadership opportunity with significant visibility and scope.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the financial accounting team of four
- Coordinate month-end close and ensure accurate internal reporting
- Oversee statutory accounts and external audit delivery for European entities
- Maintain and document SOX controls and complete testing
- Manage external auditor relationship (KPMG) and coordinate audits
- Ensure SAP data integrity and timely close/close-related deadlines
- Oversee accounting for corporate activities (subsidiaries, dividends, intercompany)
- Lead ad hoc accounting projects (acquisition accounting, M&A, going concern forecasting)
- Foster continuous improvement and leverage technology to streamline processes
Key requirements
- ACCA/ACA qualified
- 10+ years post-qualification experience in financial accounting in a commercial environment
- Proven team leadership and people management experience
- Advanced Excel and SAP proficiency
- Working knowledge of OneSource preferred
- Up-to-date UK & US GAAP knowledge
- Experience with statutory accounts and external audits (KPMG)
- SOX control design, documentation and testing experience
- Experience coordinating month-end close and region-wide financial reporting
