Senior Supplier Quality Engineer

Overview

Senior Supplier Quality Engineer in Bedford leads supplier quality activities to ensure materials, components, and services meet contractual and regulatory requirements. You will oversee supplier approvals, CAPAs, audits, and continuous improvement across the supply chain within a regulated environment. The role collaborates with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to translate requirements into measurable supplier standards. This position offers impact through quality systems and supplier oversight to sustain compliance and product integrity. You will work in a hybrid setup, shaping supplier performance and governance in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage supplier quality activities to ensure compliance with purchase orders, contracts, and applicable standards
• Maintain oversight of supplier approvals and ensure certifications remain current
• Review, challenge, and approve new supplier capability requests and accreditations
• Control and manage supplier nonconforming materials and drive root cause analysis with effective corrective actions
• Develop and maintain quality evaluation and control systems for materials and product processing
• Prepare and review procurement quality assurance procedures and ensure documentation meets customer/government requirements
• Perform source inspections and validation activities; audit third-party manufacturers and sub-tier suppliers
• Participate in vendor selection and due diligence processes and maintain feedback loops with suppliers and internal stakeholders
• Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to define and communicate supplier requirements

Key requirements

• Previous supplier quality engineering experience or similar industry environment
• Lead Auditor ISO9001:2015
• Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems
• Working knowledge of AS9100 and quality management systems
• Background in Supplier Quality Engineering, Quality Assurance or Manufacturing Quality
• Suitable for a Quality Engineer or Quality Inspector seeking progression into supplier quality engineering
• Experience in a regulated or high-pressure environment
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
• SAP experience managing quality notifications desirable but not essential
• Lean and/or Six Sigma certification advantageous
