Engineering Manager – Frontend (UK)

Overview

As a Senior Software Engineer for our frontend team, you build high-performance, scalable user interfaces while shaping product value for end users. You will split your time between hands-on frontend work and coaching up to six engineers, aligning technical delivery with business goals. You’ll tackle real-time collaboration challenges and help translate customer needs into elegant UI solutions. This role combines technical influence with people leadership in a fast-paced, remote-friendly environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement high-performance, scalable front-end UI
• Optimize frontend performance for smooth user experiences
• Handle real-time collaboration challenges with a single source of truth and caching
• Translate requirements into simple, high-quality code and designs
• Understand product/customer needs and propose value-driven ideas
• Coach up to six direct reports, set expectations and development plans
• Participate in performance decisions and salary calibration with other managers
• Lead ad hoc engineering initiatives (e.g., technical demos, All Hands) as needed

Key requirements

• Software engineer with production product experience
• Senior level evaluation for managers (typically 7–8 years)
• People management experience (2–3 years)
• Proficiency with frontend tech: TypeScript, JavaScript, CSS, React, Vue, Angular
• Strong teamwork, problem-solving, and user experience focus
• Humility and willingness to grow regardless of seniority
