Associate Civil Engineer | Water

Overview

As an Associate Civil Engineer in Belfast you will lead key water and wastewater schemes and help grow a local civil engineering team. You will own design delivery across networks, treatment assets, and hydraulic infrastructure while fostering strong client relationships. The role combines technical leadership with mentoring to develop junior engineers and promote sustainable water solutions. This is a senior, impact-driven opportunity within a global consultancy pipeline with utilities across the UK, Ireland, and beyond.

Responsibilities

• Lead civil design delivery for water and wastewater networks, treatment assets, drainage and hydraulic infrastructure
• Prepare and review technical outputs such as reports, calculations, drawings and specifications
• Act as main client interface, managing relationships with utilities, contractors and delivery partners
• Support business growth across UK and Ireland water sectors, including resource planning and capability development
• Mentor and develop junior engineers, embedding technical excellence
• Promote innovative, low-carbon and sustainable water solutions

Key requirements

• A degree in Civil Engineering (or closely related discipline)
• Chartered Engineer status (ICE or equivalent)
• Strong consultancy background delivering water or wastewater projects
• Technical expertise in drainage, networks, hydraulics and/or treatment infrastructure
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing client relationships
• Track record mentoring engineers and contributing to team growth
